Public Transportation
Vancouver has an excellent public transportation system called BC TransLink. They offer an online Trip Planner where you can find the fastest and easiest transit route to your destination. The Trip Planner will also let you know the fare you will need to pay, and the approximate travel time.
YVR Airport to SFU Burnaby
From the Vancouver International Airport, the SFU Burnaby campus is accessible via public transit:
- Take the Canada Line Train from YVR Airport station to Waterfront station.
- Take the R5 Bus to SFU. The stop is located at the intersection of W Hastings St and Granville St.
- Get off the bus at Transportation Center Bay 2. You will now be at the center of the campus.
- Walk west about 5 minutes to reach the Residence & Housing Office.
Total trip time: Approximately 90 minutes.
Taxis
Taxis and wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available at taxi stands located on Level 2 of the Domestic and International Arrivals Area at YVR.
Taxis run on a meter, so prices will vary depending on trip length/traffic volume. A 15% gratuity/tip is typically expected in addition to the charge on the meter. A taxi from YVR airport to SFU Burnaby Campus will start at approximately $65 with no traffic.
Uber
Although new to Vancouver, Uber is now available within specific areas of Greater Vancouver.
